3 paged article in Marie Claire re. Jehovah's
by Country_Woman intoday i saw an article in the "marieclaire" a magazine.. it was the story of a woman who at age 15 begun to question the jw and at age 25 decided to quit.. for this purpose she moved to another town, did'nt tell anybody that she was once a witness and told everybody that her parents died at a young age.
(both are still living - but she haven't seen them for more then 10 years now) .
the article ended with a note from the redaction that the cult is loosing members because some 30% of the youngsters are leaving the movement.

I'm grateful for being created. I'm so grateful for being able to give birth to two wonderful children. I have the best of both world's. A bonny boy and a beautiful girl. I'm so grateful for that. Parenthood is a wonderful thing. Panther

Are You Surprised As To How You Are Now That You're Out of The "Truth"?
by minimus insince we were indoctrinated that those leaving the organiztion had their lives turn into sh*t until they "returned to jehovah (the organization), how would you say things have turned out--so far?
?

I'm happy to know that "I do have a good heart condition". Even out of the JW org. No matter what they say. That feels really good. Panther Now that I'm out of the ORG. I'm standing up for myself more. It feels great. Like that cereal commercial with the tiger. You know the one. lol panther

Depression & Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus inis it me or does it seem that nearly all jws go through depression in varying ways??
i'm not talking about what the average person could deal with because of a loss of a loved one or a job termination, etc.
i'm referring to being depressed because you're a jehovah's witness.

This is a really interesting topic. My sister would always comfort me about my depression by telling me that there's tons of people in her kingdom hall on medication for depression. I don't know why but that never made me feel any better. I wonder why. Great, I'd be thinking. I'm in a religion that's represented by a bunch of depressed lunatics. Not all were lunatics but alot were. Oh my Goodness. It was scary. It's always nice when someone introduces you as depressed before they even mention their name. I don't make this a practice myself. You'd be amazed at the amount of people I've come across in the truth/pardon me Jw's who do. It's really weird. Since I've left the org. I guess it's officially been about a month since I've told my family and friends that I'm leaving I've been under alot of stress. The funny thing is. I'm not depressed at all. All these negative things happening to me but no depression. My doctor has actually reduced my prescription by alot. I guess I'll leave it up to you to decide if I feel better from leaving the JW's organization. I feel really horrible about not having my friends anymore. I miss them terribly but I'm not depressed. Repressed leads to depressed. Just a theory of mine. Love panther

Dictionary -Rogets II- The new thesaurus: INTOLERANCE; (see prejudice) noun -Irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion : bigotry, intolerance. In case anyone wanted to know the official meaning of the word. At this time I can't answer the question because I'm not 100% sure of how I feel. It's a pretty strong word with pretty strong meaning. Probably something to think seriously about. I feel sad to see the negative remarks going back and forth on the forum. I hope that you guys can work through your differences. They seem pretty strong and deep setted. Regards and I hope the definition helps. Panther It would be nice to stick to the topic at hand and try not to insult one another. Don't ya think. it's sad to see that's all. We're supposed to be supporting one another. I thought anyway.

I think the society will be around for a long time. I'm not quite sure why. It's just a feeling that I have. I know that like Simon had said, there are those who need it as a crutch. Like my mom due to her Muscular Dystrophy. Other people need it for either physical or emotional reasons, until they grow and find that, hey this religion isn't what I really need in life. They realize what they need and can fill in the blanks. People depend on so many other things, like, religion, people, circumstances, situations, in life when really they should be depending on themselves for the answers. You yourself are the only one that will get you through thick or thin. Please don't forget it. It's a very hard learning curve, but a good and important one. (((((hugs)))))) Panther
